The majority of audio recordings acquired for investigative needs is far from perfect and it is common for material such as covert recordings or 999 calls to suffer from issues that render the speech contained within unintelligible.
These issues are many but the most common we encounter are unwanted background noises such as a car engine, wind, mobile phone interference or even fans and air conditioning units.
In some cases we are asked to improve the quality of audio recordings suffering from faulty or distant microphones.
The degree of success of an audio enhancement is very much dependent on the quality (or lack of) of the original recording but more often than not we are able to achieve noticeable results.
Using specialist equipment, we can reduce noise, "de-verb" distant voices and remove unwanted and/or distracting frequency ranges or spikes.
We can also supply a transcription service from raw recordings and enhanced recordings, as required.
